Our values and methods

We work with a multitheoretical approach, which means that we don’t stick to one method in our counselling. Instead, our starting point is the situation and the person we meet. The most important thing for us, is to create a space that is as safe and acknowledging as possible, no matter who you are and where you are in your life.

Whether you’re meeting us in our counselling in Copenhagen, Aarhus or Aalborg, we have the same set of values:

WE SUPPORT YOU IN FINDING YOUR OWN SOLUTIONS

You are the expert on your own life, and only you know what is meaningful and right for you. Together we vill reflect upon your situation and we’ll support you in your journey towards the choices, solutions or knowledge that makes it possible for you to live your life in alignment with who you are.

WE MEET YOU WITH REKOGNITION AND RESPECT FOR THE PROBLEMS YOU ARE FACING

We have a lot of experience with the many ways of existing. No matter which problems you are facing, we’ll meet you with warmth, presence, respect and compassion.

WE MEET YOU WHERE YOU ARE

No matter what is taking up space for you, we’ll meet you exactly where you are in your life right now, and have our starting point from here. You decide how much you want to share with us, and together we’ll seek out possible actions to take as well as solutions.

WE LISTEN TO YOUR EXPERIENCE

You know best what’s happening in your life and how your problems are affecting you. That’s why we listen to your experience and seek to understand how you are affected. Your unique experience will always be the starting point of the conversation.

WE ARE A VOLUNTEER DRIVEN PEER-TO-PEER COUNSELLING SERVICE

The core of our counselling service is volunteering. Our counsellors are all volunteers, who set aside time and engagement in the counselling service, besides their remaining life and activities. They do it because they’re passionate about making a difference for all LGBT+ people and their loved ones.

All of our counsellors have their own experience with being an LGBT+ person. The driving force for the majority is to offer what they themselves felt that they needed at some point in their life.
