Visiting Friends

Are you interested in a visit from one of our volunteers – someone to talk to over a cup of coffee or perhaps a museum trip?

Visiting Friends is LGBT+ Denmark’s befriending service for LGBT+ people across generations. We connect younger LGBT+ people with older LGBT+ people (65+).

Through visits from a volunteer LGBT+ person, you as a host get the opportunity to form a friendship with another LGBT+ person, with whom you can share your feelings and concerns or simply chat with over a cup of coffee or an activity. We always try to match you best according to your needs and wishes.

Visiting Friends is a free service and offered to all gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and trans people 65 years or older in greater Copenhagen.

Who are the Visiting Friends?

The Visiting Friends are LGBT+ volunteers who want to get to know someone from an older generation. As older LGBT+ people, you have a different life experience and knowledge that many in younger generations enjoy learning from. Therefore, the meetings are always based on mutual interest.

You usually meet for a few hours about every two weeks. It may be that you meet at home for a cup of coffee, go for a walk, visit a museum, or something completely different – you decide that together. The visits are about being met at eye level with security, understanding and mutual respect. A visiting friend is not a therapist, but simply a person who can offer presence, good conversations, and company.

Shall we pay you a visit?

The befriending service is for 65+ LGBT+ people, and the service is currently only available in Copenhagen and the surrounding area. You can write to us at for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
